Asian Aid has chosen to partner with the following humanitarian agencies in six Asian countries to address some of the most pressing needs these countries face.?

India

The Helping Hand Welfare Society has implemented Asian Aid’s sponsorship program in India since 1978, and is currently our largest implementing partner. The agency also implements development initiatives and projects for marginalised communities, and focuses on building long-term sustainability within schools.

The projects HHWS implements are listed below:

Oasis India has been working among marginalised people and communities in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, with a combined population of more than 30 million people, since 1995. The agency offers and implements a range of projects in education and empowerment, and in the rescuing and rehabilitation of women and children caught in the binds of slavery, including the Asian Aid-supported YES and Fighting Human Trafficking projects.

Nepal

Wide_Crop_Partners (11)Community Support Association of Nepal (COSAN)

Established in 1997 by a group of health and development professionals to empower poor and socially-excluded people living in rural Nepalese villages, COSAN has been involved in awareness and prevention programs about uterine prolapse, and in funding life-changing operations. Asian Aid has partnered with COSAN to help create a supportive environment for women to achieve more equitable access to resources and opportunities. The first Asian Aid-supported sponsorship program in Nepal began in 1982, and continues – under the direction of COSAN – to support needy children and orphans through schools and Children’s Homes.

Considered one of Nepal’s leading organisations in the fight against uterine prolapse, the Centre for Agro-Ecology and Development (CAED) helps implement the Women’s Health Project. Asian Aid has partnered with CAED to help address the high incidence of uterine prolapse in Nepal through an advocacy, preventative and treatment-based approach.

Founded in 2008 by an ex-Asian Aid sponsored child, 3 Angels Nepal (3AN) have been committed to making a difference in to communities of orphans and vulnerable children, and trafficked and abused girls and women. The school and Children’s Homes run by 3AN provide quality education and care to children and orphans in need. 3AN also provides shelter, counselling and vocational training for girls and women who have been trafficked or are at risk of being trafficked, so that they can safely and confidently reintegrate into society.

Bangladesh

Since 1972 the Bangladesh Children’s Sponsorship Services has been primarily responsible for the coordination of the child sponsorship program in Bangladesh. They have also been responsible for implementing development initiatives in very poor communities to improve school infrastructures and provide improved and free health and education services.

Indonesia

Adventist Indonesian Initiatives (AII) partners with Asian Aid in bringing health education, English language classes and lifestyle programs to some of the most under-resourced schools and communities in Indonesia. The AII team of experienced local and international volunteers and staff are especially trained to work in a culturally-sensitive way.

Thailand

A partnership between Asian Aid and the Phuket Mission Hospital has enabled the hospital to conduct health-related activities and mobile clinics in poor gypsy communities around Phuket and surrounding islands.

Asian Aid has partnered with the Australian based STOP THE TRAFFIK agency because of our commitment to seeing a world free of human slavery. ?STOP THE TRAFFIK exists to end and prevent human trafficking by taking local action, building a global movement, and campaigning for change.
