Imagine being banished from your home each month because you have your period.
Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day (MH Day). We join other non-profits, government agencies, individuals, the private sector and the media to promote good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) for all women and girls from around the world.
In recognition, of the work we still need to do Asian Aid is launching a new advocacy and health campaign to help end the practice of isolation huts during menstruation in Nepal. The practice of isolation or Chhaupadi is based on a the myth that the Hindu Goddess Indra created menstruation as a means to distribute a curse.
Through our new #BanishedforBleeding initiative and with your support we aim to help end menstruation isolation huts in remote Nepal.
We sent one of our team, Pudens into some of the remotest places in Nepal to see how prevalent this practice is and this a video of her trip:
